Board Members

  • Chair of the Board

    Karen McGee is a former international trade law attorney. Having advised many different businesses from an array of industries over years of practice, Karen remained dedicated to providing practical and actionable legal solutions that were also in alignment with her client’s business operations and market segment.

    Karen regularly worked with the International Trade Commission (ITC), as well as an array of U.S. government agencies that regulate international trade. This included the Department of Defense (DOD); Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC); Department of Commerce International Trade Administration and Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS); Department of Homeland Security Customs & Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Controls (OFAC).

  • Dr. Fricke is a magnetic resonance physicist, professor, inventor, and radiation safety officer at Childrens National Hospital in Washington DC. Dr. Fricke can be found working with clinicians in the operating room, managing a robust MRI research program, and assuring the safe operation of Childrens National Hospital’s eight magnetic resonance imaging instruments.

  • Dr. Weinberg is a board certified radiologist and holds a PhD in plasma physics from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Weinberg received an MD from the University of Miami, completed a residency at Johns Hopkins University, and was a postdoctoral scholar at the National Institutes of Health prior to practicing radiology in Maryland. Dr. Weinberg has spent two decades launching startups, some of which have gone on to produce FDA approved imaging devices.


Staff

  • Pavel Stepanov has over two decades of expertise in the field of medical imaging. He previously held engineering and leadership positions at Naviscan PET Systems while working on development and manufacturing of medical imaging devices at all phases: from concepts and prototypes to Quality Systems for FDA cleared products. Pavel brings design, development, production, and regulatory clearance experience to IGTRI.

    Prior to developing and manufacturing medical devices, Pavel was a nuclear physicist at the Novosibirsk Nuclear Physics Institute (Russia) and at Boston University. He holds a Masters degree in High Energy Physics and Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Novosibirsk State University.

  • Lamar Mair has worked at the interface of magnetism, drug targeting, and microrobotics for 15 years. He completed his PhD at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and has developed magnetic guidance instrumentation being used at several academic laboratories.

  • Oleg Udalov is a physicist with expertise in modeling, magnetic materials, and magnetic resonance imaging instrumentation. Prior to working at IGTRI, Oleg was a postdoctoral fellow at California State University, Northridge, and was a member of the Center for Translational Applications of Nanoscale Multiferroic Systems.

Advisors

  • A seasoned executive with hands-on technical, operational, business and investment experience, Dr. Tuchman has served as CEO, President, COO and CTO of companies, as a board director, venture capitalist, and strategy and management consultant. Expert at leading companies and bringing technologies from concept to market, Dr. Tuchman has decades of experience managing in-house and outsourced development of innovative technologies in industrial, government and academic settings. He also has first-hand experience in research and development of innovative materials, devices, hardware, software and systems for healthcare and medical, commercial, industrial, and defense applications.

  • Ying is IGTRI’s Comptroller and participates in IGTRI operations. She has extensive accounting and finance experience across healthcare, government, and small business sectors.
